Preparation

Preparation is essential before any interview and can make the difference in how you perform within the interview.

Preparation tips from i3Group

  • Ensure that you have a complete understanding of the position that you are going for, including the skills that are required, the workplace environment, team etc. If you have any queries contact your consultant for an extended briefing.
  • Research the organisation by thoroughly reviewing their website in order to develop an understanding of who they are, what they do, their size, their vision and culture.
  • Make sure that you dress appropriately for the position that you have applied for.
  • Ensure that you have the correct address details and know how to get to the interview. Make sure that you allow sufficient time to get there, especially taking into account traffic.
  • Know who you are meeting with and what their title is.
  • Practice interview questions that you feel they may ask you. You will probably be asked questions in which you will need to provide examples from your previous experience, so make sure you have prepared some examples before arriving for the interview.
  • Think of questions that you would like to ask the company, considering information that you need to determine whether the company will provide you with the adequate opportunities for growth and development. Remember, it is a two way process ensuring that the company recruit the right person and that you choose the right company.

Interview tips

  • Listen to the question carefully and make sure that you answer the question that was asked.
  • Keep your answers concise, unless you are asked to elaborate or provide examples.
  • Maintain a relaxed, positive attitude including body language.
  • Remember to smile and be friendly. Aim to build a rapport with the interviewer.
  • Express your answers clearly, try to make your point strong and clear.
  • Be confident in your actions and answers.
  • Maintain eye contact.
  • Be enthusiastic about the role and the organisation.
  • Provide them with the confidence that you are the best person for the job.
  • Do not answer questions with yes or no.
  • Try and let your personality show through to the interviewer.
